About Us

About Tapti Samagra

Nature and education — the two pillars of life.

आओ संवारे ताप्ती किनारे

Tapti Samagra Social Welfare Foundation is a registered NGO that began on the banks of the Tapti in Multapi (Multai), Madhya Pradesh, and today works across India. We clean rivers and ghats, plant and protect trees, raise awareness and serve people in need.

A healthy environment gives us a clean life, and good education gives us the right direction. That belief is at the heart of everything we do.

Our Background

Named after the river that gives us life

Tapti Samagra was founded for the all-round development of society — social, environmental and human. Its name comes from the Tapti, the life-giving river of central India. Just as the Tapti nourishes the land with her waters, the foundation aims to carry a stream of development, education and compassion to every part of society.

It began with a group of concerned citizens, public representatives, young people and social workers from the Multapi region. Together they decided that progress must reach everyone — whether through education, health, cleanliness or protecting the environment.

What started with one ghat cleaning drive in 2024 has grown into a movement of volunteers working across India.

“Rivers are not just a source of water — they are the foundation of life.”
The idea behind our “Adopt Your River” campaign

Pollution, water scarcity and global warming now threaten everyday life. We believe lasting change comes when every person understands their own responsibility towards nature — and acts on it.

Why We Exist

Our mission and vision

Mission

To build a society that keeps its ghats clean, protects its environment and values education — by making people aware and bringing them together to act.

Vision

Clean, living rivers, a green earth and a culturally rich society — for us today and for the generations that come after us.

Values

Selfless service, unity and compassion. We serve nature and people alike — from cleaning a ghat to donating blood for a stranger.

Our Guiding Principles

Three ideas that guide every drive

“Greenery is Prosperity”

Every year we run plantation drives in villages and towns, where citizens, students and volunteers plant saplings together. We don’t just plant trees — we take responsibility for protecting them.

“Adopt Your River”

We clean the Tapti, local streams and other water sources so that our rivers become clean and full of life again.

“From People to People”

Real change does not come from plans alone. It comes when every person becomes aware and takes part. Public awareness is the soul of every campaign we run.

What We Focus On

Five areas of work

Ghat Cleaning

Regular drives with villagers and public representatives to keep ghats clean and sacred.

Tree Plantation

Monsoon planting at schools, panchayats, roadsides and riverbanks — with youth caring for every plant.

Plastic-Free Ghats

Removing plastic from ghats and asking devotees not to throw puja waste or plastic into the river.

Public Awareness

Spreading the message of cleanliness and water conservation at melas, festivals and in villages.

Cultural Heritage

Protecting the old temples, ghats and monuments along the Tapti, and keeping our traditions alive.

How we make sure our work lasts

Every project — ghat cleaning, plastic-free ghats, tree plantation and heritage conservation — is regularly monitored and reviewed, so the real benefit reaches society. For us, monitoring is not just inspection; it is how we learn and improve.

01

Site visits

Our team regularly visits every project site.

02

Records

We track how often ghats are cleaned, how many trees are planted and how many survive.

03

Feedback

We listen to residents, students and volunteers to keep our work useful.

04

Improvement

What we learn shapes the next drive, making each project better than the last.

Looking Ahead

Our long-term goals

A green zone along the Tapti

Develop the banks of Maa Tapti and her tributaries as a green belt that stops soil erosion and keeps the riverside beautiful.

100 trees in every school and panchayat

Plant at least 100 trees in each school and gram panchayat we work with — and make sure they survive.

Plastic-free ghats

Make every ghat we adopt free of plastic, and turn cleanliness into a habit and a people’s movement.
